Welcome to the Chair of Empirical Macroeconomics and Family Economics
My team and I work on questions in the area of empirical macroeconomics at the intersection to family and labor economics and economics of education.
We conduct research in the area of inequality and social mobility, on the role of social interactions and peer effects, and on the role of subjective expectations in economic decisions using a number of different administrative and self-collected data sets in developed and developing countrires. Access to datasets and costs for data collections are covered via research grants, such as the CRC Transregio 224, which funds projects of Prof. Kaufmann with more than half a million Euro.
